A journey to the german middle ages

The Age of Romanticism at every step. Almost no other cities attract the visitor as consistently as Rothenburg ob der Tauber or Dinkelsbühl due mainly no doubt to their natural atmosphere. Strolling through the town means a meeting with the past. Tall towers and strong walls, churches and patrician houses speak of a powerful past. On the return journey you will, for a brief visit, discover the baroque city of Würzburg.

Day 1 - 03-07-2008

Travelling past Frankfurt, Aschaffenburg and through the Main-valley to Miltenberg am Main. Strolling through the lovely little framework town; on the route via Tauberbischofsheim to Weikersheim. A short stay with the possibility of visiting one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles in the country whose beautiful castle gardens form the crowning jewel. In the Tauber-Valley you will reach Bad Mergentheim and, via the “Romantic Route”, you will come to the town of Creglingen. Visit of the church “Hergottskirche” with the famous altar by “Tilman Riemenschneider”. During the late afternoon you will reach Dinkelsbühl, followed by a brief stroll through the old town. Overnight stay.

Day 2 - 04-07-2008

The old Franconian Reichsstadt Dinkelsbühl with its beautifully preserved city wall, the impressive hall-shaped church of St. Georg, the proud Burger houses and the small dwellings in narrow streets give a fascinating view of life in the middle ages. The well known town festival “Kinderzeche” is a reminder each Summer of the 30 Years War. During a guided tour you will get to see this jewel from its most beautiful side. After the visit you will set out via the “Romantic Route” to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This, for many, is the essence of a German mediavel town. Narrow stony streets, gabel houses, churches and town towers are the romantic panorama of the town. The town hall on the Market Square is one of the most beautiful in Southern Germany, the “Plönlein” being one of the most picturesque points. Our guided tour becomes a journey into the past. In the evening you will return to Dinkelsbühl. Overnight stay.
