Picturesque Cities - Amsterdam, Bruges and Brussels
This short trip combines the picturesque jewels of Amsterdam, Bruges and Brussels. The life rhythm of Amsterdam, with its world famous canals, is determined by water. Later, the journey continues past the North Sea coast to Bruges. The flair of Bruges, with its many canals and squares, is unique. Finally, this brief visit to Belgium ends with a visit to Brussels, the “secret” capital of Europe.
Day 1 - July 3, 2008

Passing Oberhausen and Utrecht you will arrive in Amsterdam. Check-in at the hotel in the afternoon is followed by a one hour boat-trip on the canals. The best views of the typical narrow houses of this Dutch metropole are from the water. The canals have many angles and can seem like a never ending and fascinating labyrinth. The evening is free, perhaps for a visit to one of Amsterdam’s innumerable pubs and bars.
Day 2 - July 4, 2008
In the morning you will leave Amsterdam and travel along the coast of the North Sea toward Belgium. On your journey you will pass the “Gezeitenstaudamm”, the dam at the estuary of the Zeeland province. This is followed by the issue of the river Scheide in the Netherland’s longest tunnel (6,8 km) and shortly after, in the late morning, you will reach the Belgian town of Bruges. During a guided city-tour you will enjoy the highlights of Bruges such as Belfried, Burgplatz, Heilig Blut Basilika and the church Liebfrauenkirche. You will continue to enjoy the unique character of this city during the boat-trip that follows. The evening is free.
Day 3 - July 5, 2008

Early in the morning, after breakfast and hotel check-out, you will travel towards Brussels. The brief trip from Bruges to Brussels will end in a city-tour of the main sights such as the Atomium or the European quarter. This will be followed in the afternoon by a stroll through the old town of Brussels with its Grand Palace and other highlights of Belgium’s capital. Towards late afternoon you will leave Brussels again, arriving in Cologne in the evening.
